In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle with Car Hire Kettering, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old; however, age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Please be aware of any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Kettering office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally collected at the time of vehicle pick-up. Prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. Major credit and debit cards are accepted, with transactions processed through established payment providers for your security.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, with allowances for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle must also be returned with the same level of fuel as received; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You are accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will remain your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and modification policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any activities that pose a safety risk. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unapproved drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Do not exceed the designated passenger or weight limits, and avoid driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Kettering is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may result from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. All disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
